Ford to resume F-150 production after MI supplier fire

Ford is restarting production of the F-150 truck, one of its most lucrative and best-selling vehicles, after it suspended manufacturing following a fire at an auto parts factory earlier this month.

Production of Ford's Super Duty at its Louisville, Ky., truck plant and the F-150 at its Kansas City, Mo., assembly plant are targeted to resume by Monday.

Ford teams, together with suppliers including Walbridge and other contractors, worked almost around the clock to get America's best-selling vehicle franchise back on line as quickly as possible, according to a release.

Production of the Expedition and Navigator SUVs continues without interruption at Louisville, Ford said. Reflecting the urgency to restart production, one 87,000-pound die was loaded into an Antonov An-124 cargo plane and shipped to another Meridian site in Nottingham, UK, in just 30 hours door-to-door.
