Two dead as light aircraft crashes in Britain

The plane is believed to have come down around 12:20 pm into a wooded area near the airport.

Two people are reportedly killed after a light aircraft crashed near Belfast International Airport, Sky News reported on Thursday.

Emergency services - including three fire crews, three ambulance crews, a rapid response paramedic, the air ambulance, and police - were called to the area.

NIAS implemented its major incident protocol in response to this incident.

The Air Accident Investigation Branch sent a team to Crumlin.

A statement from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said that this is "an ongoing incident and no further information is available at this time".

"Thoughts and prayers with all those affected and directly working at the scene", she said.
