National Weather Service in Columbia Confirms Tornado Touchdown

The NWS confirmed that a brief tornado did hit Decatur County with max winds at 90 - 95 miles per hour.

As a cold front moves its way into the region, the National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch effective until 7 p.m. for the following counties: Alexander, Alleghany, Ashe, Burke, Cabarrus, Caldwell, Catawba, Cleveland, Davie, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Mcdowell, Mecklenburg, Polk, Rowan, Rutherford, Surry, Union, Watauga, Wilkes and Yadkin.

The line of storms did cause minor damage across the Lowcountry and knocked out power to as many as 4,500 earlier in the day.
