HBO's John Oliver Says GOP 'Absolutely Blew It' on Corporate Tax Reform

16 April 2018

John Oliver, host of HBO's Last Week Tonight, is known for preforming elaborate stunts on the show, and last Sunday he featured KTUU's reporting on the closure of multiple Blockbusters in Alaska.

After airing a clip showing a telephone bidder paying a whopping $7,000 for Crowe's jockstrap, Oliver then insisted, "The bad news is we didn't do it".

Blockbuster was once synonymous with movie nights with thousands of video rental stores across the country, but today has just a handful of locations still operating. He wasn't sure how to get hold of Oliver or the show to say yes.

Indian markets are expected to trade with a negative bias as tension in Syria escalates leading to a surge in crude oil prices. Losses in the market were led by IT stocks which fell tracking selloff in Infosys shares.

Come on: Are you not entertained?

As has been previously reported, Alaska is home to over 50% of the country's final Blockbuster stores.

When Russell Crowe announced in March he'd be selling tons of his personal movie memorabilia at an April 2018 divorce auction, many fans were left wondering who would spend hundreds of dollars on such items as Crowe's "Cinderella Man" jockstrap.

The government's capture of Douma, the last town held by the rebels in eastern Ghouta, marks a major victory for Assad. Officials said this did not include giving Russian advance notice of where or when allied airstrikes would happen.

According to People magazine, Crowe sold the items last week in an auction titled "The Art of Divorce" after splitting from Danielle Spencer, his wife of 9 years.

Oliver told his audience that he had bought the jockstrap - as well as a vest Crowe wore in Les Miserables and a seat from American Gangster - to donate to the last Blockbuster outlet in Anchorage, Alaska. "I'm sorry it wasn't us, we didn't buy it..." before he immediately added: "We did, we absolutely did!"

Oliver addressed "the manager of the only remaining Blockbuster in Anchorage", saying, "Just call us in the next 48 hours, and we will send it to you".
