Burnley beat Leicester to boost European hopes

15 April 2018

Leicester manager Claude Puel has backed Burnley to secure European football after a "crazy" start saw them lose 2-1 at Turf Moor. We'll see where it goes. "But I've got no loyalties to them any more so hopefully we'll have a good weekend".

Burnley made it five successive top-flight wins for the first time in half a century as the prospect of European football at Turf Moor next season drew ever closer.

All Whites striker Chris Wood scored for Burnley in a 2-1 victory over his former side, Leicester, in the English Premier League, on Sunday morning (NZ time). It was important to come back in the second half with quality and we improved in our play. Choudhury can play with the first team because they play with the same abilities as the first team.

The missing athletes were part of a team that participated in a training camp in Warwick before arriving on the Gold Coast . The missing weightlifters are Olivier Heracies Matam Matam, Petite David Minkoumba, and Arcangeline Sonkbou Fouodji.

Both managers had quibbles with referee Martin Atkinson, who turned down two Burnley penalty appeals in a matter of moments in the second half.

All of that changed at the tail end of last season, and since then Long has featured far more for Sean Dyche's side, though he has had to be patient once again this year as James Tarkowski and Ben Mee established a fantastic centre-half partnership for the high-flying side.

Hamza Choudhury starts as Leicester City visit Burnley this afternoon.

"The Under-23s won 4-0 against Liverpool, 3-1 against Arsenal, with fantastic play, with fantastic goals and I think it's a good evolution for all the squad, all the Club, because we try to give direction and a good philosophy of play for the Academy and for the first team". It was insane to have all the chances and to finish with one goal. "It was a big disappointment after Newcastle because with this defeat we wasted points".

Puel said, "Of course I was impressed because there was good concentration before the game and good duels at the beginning and it was close with the other team but to concede two goals quickly it was hard to accept". It was not a fair result.
