Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday night led a flash protest at the India Gate to protest the rape of a minor girl in Kathua and that of a teen in Unnao, bringing back memories of a similar agitation in 2012 that brought down the UPA-II government.
Meanwhile, reports claim that Rahul Gandhi will lead a midnight vigil at #India Gate for Asifa.
Rahul while addressing media persons at India Gate reiterated the need for government's intervention in the soaring crimes against women.
Gandhi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had been at the receiving end of criticism for remaining silent on the heinous rape and murder case. "This is a national issue and not a political one", Gandhi said at the march in the heart of the national capital. "Now please maintain calm and walk silently", an angry Priyanka Vadra told the crowd".

A Special Investigation Team, formed to probe the incident, has arrested eight people, including two Special Police Officers (SPOs) and a head constable, who was charged with destroying evidence. Delhi Congress workers will join Gandhi in the protest, reported PTI.
