National Football League free agency 2018: Case Keenum to sign with Broncos, report says

14 March 2018

That kind of structure was expected to cause some attrition amongst the teams expected to pursue Cousins - and it ultimately became a reality when Denver began laying plans for the first day of free agency.

By mid-afternoon, several unreliable reports linked the Broncos to a couple of unrestricted free agents as the "legal tampering" period opened, but nothing was concrete. Cousins is now deciding between the Vikings, the New York Jets and the Arizona Cardinals, Schefter reported. Like Kirk Cousins' availability, that's almost unheard of in the NFL, a league that treats quarterbacks like the Florida Keys treat Manatees (Which means that coach Zimmer and Rick Spielman were the speedboat drivers?).

Nelson signed a one-year contract with the Super Bowl-champion Philadelphia Eagles.

Keenum also has a connection in Denver, as Broncos senior personnel adviser Gary Kubiak coached the QB for two seasons with the Houston Texans. Taking over for an injured Sam Bradford and rallying a Vikings team to a spot in the NFC Championship, Keenum played outstanding football all season, excelling in offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur's scheme.

Malcolm Butler expected to sign with Titans
He is famously known for picking off Russell Wilson in the final seconds of Super Bowl XLIX, and did it as an undrafted rookie. His new contract is a five-year, $61 million contract that includes $30 million in guaranteed money.

With a sparkling new stadium, stacked roster and head coaching stability, the Vikings jumped to the head of the line of potential suitors for Cousins.

The Broncos likely won't take a quarterback when they pick at No. 5 in next month's draft.

We know that Elway is operating behind the scenes, but there should be smoke.

McCarron and Denver coach Vance Joseph have some familiarity with each other, as Joseph was an assistant with the Bengals from 2014-2016.

CPI data due Tuesday
Central bankers were baffled for much of a year ago by the weakness of price pressures in the face of the continuing recovery. It expects gross value added - a key measure of growth - to increase 7.2 percent next fiscal year from 6.6 percent this year.

In the meantime, Denver is coming off an atrocious 5-11 season. Keenum will have similar talent at receiver with the Broncos in Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders.

At the National Football League scouting combine this month, Elway said, "we'll continue to look at all of the options out there when it comes to quarterback". "That is what we are working on".

For Keenum, he will now face a pile of expectations in a quarterback-crazed region that saw its team win a Super Bowl just two seasons ago. That's why he was the back-up in the playoffs over Bridgewater and that's why the team is going after Cousins, who is the same age as Bradford and has a similar style of play (although Cousins is much more mobile).

"I still think we're not too far away".

Packers to land Muhammad Wilkerson
Under new leadership in the front office the Green Bay Packers are approaching free agency with more aggression than ever before. The deal is for one year, $5 million plus an additional $3 million in incentives, according to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network.
