Benue killings: Fayose lampoons Buhari's ignorance about IGP's disregard for his order

Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom, has expressed the hope that President Muhammadu Buhari's visit to Benue State would contribute to permanently solving the security challenges in the state.

Ex-president, Olusegun Obasanjo has visited the gravesite of 73 people killed by Fulani herdsmen in Benue state.

The President had directed the IGP to relocate temporarily to Benue State following public outcry that greeted the murder of over 70 persons by suspected herdsmen in January. "I am genuinely anxious about the attacks in Benue and we are doing everything to end them", he said.

Buhari met with the herdsmen association Miyetti Allah, and appealed with the people in the state to apply restraint. He, however, noted that a collective effort is required to maintain peace and security.

Although the IGP visited Benue after the President's directive, the state government accused him of spending only one day in the state and then proceeding to Nasarawa State and spending several days there.
