US investigators probing a deadly helicopter crash in New York City's East River want to speak with the pilot who warned of engine failure before the chartered aircraft crashed into the icy water, killing all five passengers.

The helicopter belonged to Liberty Helicopters, a company based in New York City that specializes in aerial tours and contracting for photography.
The passengers who died included Dallas Fire-Rescue Officer Brian McDaniel, 26, his high school friend Trevor Cadigan, 26, a journalist who hailed from Dallas but had recently moved to NY; and Carla Vallejos Blanco, 29, a tourist from Argentina, according to its consulate. McDaniel, 26, had been with the department since May 2016.
NY officials said the charter helicopter was hired for a photo shoot. "These agencies have asked us to respect the investigative process by referring all press inquiries to them for any further comment".
The AP reported that one person was rescued by a tugboat on the scene.
