15 February 2018

During a game against Russian Federation at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, Team USA Hockey's Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson broke the record for the shortest time between scoring goals.

The Americans and Canadians have met in the last two Olympics finals. Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson set an Olympic record for the fastest back-to-back goals scoring 6 seconds apart in the second period, and the United States shut out the Russians 5-0 to remain flawless going into the Americans' first of two hopeful showdowns with Canada. With their latest win, the Americans remain undefeated going into their early Olympic showdown with Canada, which is also 2-0. But they are at the Pyeongchang Games trying to end a 20-year gold medal drought. Finishing top two in the group, which is guaranteed at this point, ensures that both teams will be placed in different semifinals for the playoff stage and sets up a probable gold medal rematch between the two juggernauts.

Nicole Hensley made 13 saves in her Olympic debut as OAR was shut out for the second time in as many appearances.

For the USA, it was a welcomed explosion after a too-close-for-comfort Olympic opening victory over Finland Sunday. Lamoureux-Davidson gathered a rebound from the shot and flipped it past Tarakanova for a 2-0 lead for the Americans.

On the ensuing face-off, two OAR defenders misplayed the puck and No. 17 converted a breakaway to give the US a three-goal advantage and create the memory of a lifetime.
