COD's developers had previously played down any notion of a movie adaption, but past year Activision Blizzard's co-presidents Stacey Sher and Nick van Dyk revealed they were hoping to launch a cinematic universe that would take on Disney's Marvel one. Meanwhile, the script has already been penned by Kieran Fitzgerald though details on the plot are not known at this point.
"Another near-term initiative for Activision Blizzard Studios will be the development of a robust cinematic universe based on the Call of Duty franchise", the company announced.
Of course, that's nothing compared to the possible reach of a blockbuster adaptation of the Call Of Duty franchise.

Van Dyk said that the Call of Duty films will "have the same sort of high-adrenaline, high-energy aesthetic as the game, but it's not a literal adaptation".
Soldado is scheduled to open in theaters on June 29, 2017, but we are hoping that Sollima begins work on bringing one of the most successful video game franchises in history on the silver screen much earlier than that.
