The future of the U.S. Soccer Federation could soon be dramatically reshaped, as for the first time since 2006, there will be a new face leading the charge for the sport in America after Saturday's USSF Presidential election.
It was the first contested election since 1998. Winograd and Gans bowed out after the second ballot, leaving Wynalda (10.8), Martino (10.2) and Solo (1.5) in the race with Cordeiro and Carter.
Cordeiro is a graduate of Miami Beach High, Harvard College and Harvard Business School.
Caligiuri withdrew from the process after the round after polling just 0.5 per cent.
Carter's support among delegates attending USSF's annual general meeting slipped each round - from 34.6 percent to 33.3 on the second ballot, to 10.6 on the third, when the field had shrunk to five.
The Newest: Sunoco says deal will keep away from pipeline…
Food & Water Watch organizer Sam Rubin called the settlement an "outrageous deal" that put corporate profits ahead of safety. "A permit suspension is one of the most significant penalties DEP can levy", McDonnell said in his Thursday statement .
Gans and Winograd then withdrew.
The vote was done over three ballots before Cordeiro was able to acquire the majority vote.
Cordeiro represents something of a compromise between the "change" candidates, Wynalda, Martino and Solo, and the establishment candidate, Carter, president of MLS' marketing arm, Soccer United Marketing.
"Thank you to those of you who have supported me today", Cordeiro said.
"I've been blessed to live the American Dream, and I want to help our athletes achieve theirs", he said on his campaign site. To those of you who didn't vote for me, I'm going to work to earn your support and trust over the next four years. "I promise you I'm going to work together with all of you to bring us together as one united soccer community". As Vice President since 2016, he worked to reform Board governance with a focus on greater transparency and accountability.

In the aftermath of the charge, he tweeted: "Absolutely gutted and in disbelief at the situation I find myself in". West Brom say they will "fully support" the England worldwide , who has until February 16 to respond to the FA.
Cordeiro, a business executive with more than 30 years of experience in worldwide finance, has been Gulati's vice president since 2016.
The official also represents U.S. Soccer on the CONCACAF Council and FIFA's Stakeholders Committee.
Cordeiro immediately takes over for Gulati, who decided against seeking a fourth four-year term after the US was unable to make the 32-team World Cup field in Russian Federation.
Cordeiro takes over from Sunil Gulati, who closes out 12 years of holding the position mired in controversy, thanks to decisions made during the most recent World Cup Qualifying cycle that played a role in the USMNT missing the World Cup.
