Katie Couric Just Broke Her Silence on Matt Lauer's Sexual Misconduct Allegations

Almost two months after Matt Lauer was ousted from NBC over allegations of sexual misconduct, his former co-host Katie Couric finally has something to say.

In November 2017, celebrated news anchorman Matt Lauer, was outed as a sexual predator, when he was sacked from the Today show, after he accused of assaulting a female worker. "The accounts I have read and heard are upsetting, debilitating and disorienting plus it's really completely improper that any female in the Now show experienced this sort of treatment method".

Couric and Lauer shared the morning show spotlight for 15 years, before Couric left NBC in 2006 for a position at CBS. "Matt was a kind and generous colleague who treated me with respect".

After reports about Lauer's alleged sexual misconduct came to light, Couric and her friends who also know him struggled to make sense of what happened.

While declining to comment further on her reaction to Lauer, Couric told Variety at the Television Critics Association press tour on Saturday that she herself never experienced any harassment in her career.

'I'd no idea this was going on during my tenure or even after I left, ' Couric stated this time around.

After his firing, which had been announced live on Now by Savannah Guthrie and also Hoda Kotb, Lauer resolved that the original allegations in a statement.

"There are no words to express my sorrow and regret for the pain I have caused others by words and actions. I have been in environments that I've found sexist and that marginalized women and don't take them as seriously as they should, but I think for the most part I've been very fortunate".
