Kane to break all English goal records, says Pochettino

14 Января 2018

"It will be a tough game to play because of the quality of their side, but you hope Wembley will bring the best out of our players because they have the chance to play in such an iconic stadium".

Tottenham Hotspur comfortably defeated Everton 4-0 at Wembley on Saturday evening as Harry Kane became the club's all time Premier League top scorer, overtaking Teddy Sheringham.

Everton gave a debut to new £27m signing, Cenk Tosun, but the former Besiktas striker had little to work with as the ninth-placed Blues, who saw a header from Wayne Rooney correctly chalked off for offside, slumped to a fourth straight defeat.

Spurs doubled their lead two minutes into the second half as Son turned provider to pick out Kane, who made no mistake from close range, 2-0.

The England worldwide stole the headlines once again as Spurs drew level on points with fourth-placed Liverpool, overtaking club legend Teddy Sheringham to stand out on his own as Tottenham's most prolific player of the Premier League era.

That scare seemed to spark Tottenham into life, and Kane in particular began to threaten moments later with three efforts in quick succession which all needed to be saved by Pickford.

Just one minute later and Harry Kane crowned himself Tottenham Hotspur's all time top-scorer in the Premier League.

Only Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion (both six) have won fewer points away from home in the Premier League than Everton (eight) this season.

Watford came back from two goals down to register a 2-2 draw with Southampton at Vicarage Road.

Kane has this season already broken Alan Shearer's record for most Premier League goals in a calendar year with 39, while also finishing 2017 with more goals than Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

This game should be a far more open affair, allowing Tottenham's attack to trouble Everton's defensive frailties.

In the 15th minute, Eriksen - who was recently named Danish footballer of the year for the fourth year in a row - whipped in a free-kick to the front post which was glanced on by Son but the ball was diverted just too high over stranded goalkeeper Jordan Pickford's crossbar.

With Harry Kane in town, this is an issue that Everton must address, or they run the risk of being embarrassed by the Tottenham forward.
