Dark Souls remaster coming to PC, XO, PS4, and Switch

The announcement first came during a surprise Nintendo Direct overnight, which highlighted Dark Souls Remastered as one of the Nintendo Switch console highlights for the first half of 2018. Now, in a recent Nintendo Direct Mini, the remastered version of the original Dark Souls was officially announced with the technical details.

Apparently, Nintendo's gesture of wanting to shake off its family-friendly image is starting to commence now, as its new list of games for the Switch includes the remaster for the notoriously hard game "Dark Souls".

The developers of "Dark Souls Remastered" have also confirmed that the downloadable content (DLC) for the game, named "Artorias of the Abyss", will also be included in all the platform versions. The game's "Prepare to Die" edition already runs on 60 FPS and high-resolution textures, thanks to DSFix and a handful of other available mods. Despite not having all the visual bells and whistles as originally claimed, the action-RPG will still be playable in 4K resolution and boast an improved frame rate among other extras.

One of our sources indicates that Bandai Namco plans to bring all three Dark Soulsgames to Switch eventually, but the oft-rumoured "trilogy" bundle is not how this will be happening - yet.
