Facebook Messenger Games celebrate one year; rolls out live streaming feature

08 December 2017

On the one year anniversary of releasing the in app games system Instant Games Facebook has announced an all new Facebook Live system to allow live streaming through Messenger Instant Games onto your feed.

The idea with Instant Games is to boost people's time spent in Messenger by giving them something else to do besides just chat.

Finally, other goodies coming soon to Instant Games include the once wildly popular Angry Birds by Rovio Entertainment, though the Messenger version promises "an exciting new way to challenge friends".

Brexit talks finally make 'sufficient progress' as May and Juncker do deal
The DUP insists it will not accept any agreement in which Northern Ireland was treated differently from the rest of the UK. She must also convince her divided Conservative Party that the deal she makes is acceptable.

It's easy to get started: while playing a game, tap the camera icon located in the upper right corner of the game. The feature will allow friends to video chat while simultaneously playing a game against each other.

"The new live streaming capability via Facebook Live makes it simple for people to play and share their experiences with those who love games on Messenger".

The platform is now adding more games to the list. With the expansion of the platform to over 70 games from more than 100 developers worldwide and today's new features, Facebook is hoping to encourage even more Messenger users to spend time playing games with their friends. Once this is selected you can choose the audience you wish to broadcast to and add a short description to say something about your video. Developed by Coolgames, the company who also developed the recently released Tetris for Messengers Gaming service, Angry Birds will bring all your favourite birds (and pigs) into your chats. To start recording, you press the "Start Live Video" button. The stream will be available live, with the final video posted to the user's Page or profile so friends can also watch it at a later stage. The feature will initially debut next year in Zynga's Words with Friends, before expanding to other titles.
