Burnley confirm Ireland star Robbie Brady to undergo knee surgery

Republic of Ireland winger Robbie Brady faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after his club Burnley confirmed he'll undergo surgery for a patellar tendon tear.

In the moments that followed the injury, it was evident that there was immediate concern for the Irish worldwide and, after Brady was stretchered off the pitch, Burnley manager Sean Dyche stated that he instantly had the feeling that the injury was "more serious than not serious".

His outstanding run of form has helped the Clarets make a best start to a top-flight season since 1973/74, with Dyche's side now sitting seventh in the table.
