YouTube Rewind 2017 has fidget spinners and Jake Paul

To the surprise of nearly no one, the video for "Despacito" tops YouTube's year-end rankings of the most popular music videos of 2017. Videos released later in the year simply have less time to rack up views, so they're not as likely to make the cut.

Latino artists' popularity on YouTube is proof that they are massively popular in worldwide markets, even if they continue to face barriers to entry in mainstream music in the U.S. What's more, it points to the fact that Latino listeners have been shaping global pop music trends for some time (check pop's current obsession with dembow-lite riddims for proof).

The masked performer was a contestant on Thailand's aptly named singing competition show "The Mask Singer". The list is based on how many people view, share, comment and like the content.
