A brush fire that broke out in the Kagel Canyon area above Sylmar, charred almost 11,400, destroyed about 30 homes and prompted the evacuation of more than 100,000 people from their homes, raged on for a second day Wednesday even though air crews made overnight water drops in a bid to douse the flames.
A 1,000-acre fire blazed through the Angeles National Forest Tuesday, Dec.5, trapping several people in Sylmar, and forcing mandatory evacuations, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Homes on Moraga Drive, Linda Flora Drive, Casiano Road down to Bellagio Road, east of the 405, south of Mulholland Drive, North of Sunset Boulevard and west of Roscomare Road are now under mandatory evacuation orders.

At around 6 a.m., sheriff's deputies and Los Angeles Police Department officers began evacuations in the 12300 block of Little Tujunga Road down to Foothill Boulevard, according to the LAPD.

As per IMD, the epicentre of the natural disaster was Uttarakhand's Rudraprayag, with a Magnitude of 5.5 and depth of 30 km. Strong tremors were felt in Delhi and other areas across northern India.
But by early afternoon, the eastern border of the evacuation area had been enlarged to the Haynes Canyon area.
Evacuation centers have been established at Delano Recreation Center, 15100 Erwin St., Van Nuys; Balboa RC, 17015 Burbank Blvd., Van Nuys; Sherman Oaks RC, 14201 Huston St., Sherman Oaks; and Westwood RC, 1350 Sepulveda Blvd., Westwood. More than 600 firefighters battled the blaze amid strong Santa Ana winds, some gusting at 70 miles per hour.
For small animals, shelters were in place at West Valley Animal Shelter, 20655 Plummer St., and the East Valley Animal Shelter, 14409 Vanowen St. Both were closed for the day, as was Santa Monica College and all schools in the Santa Monica-Malibu school district. All other Sylmar-area schools will remain open. He joined a chorus of officials urging residents to immediately evacuate if they are told to do so.
