The federal judge overseeing the bribery trial of Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez's federal corruption trial are getting a chance at a fresh start.
Walls chose to send the jury home an hour early and asked it to continue deliberations Tuesday morning.
Evelyn Arroyo-Maultsby spoke outside the courthouse after the jury was unable to reach a verdict after three full days and part of a fourth.
Prosecutors say the senator took gifts such as a luxury hotel stay, private flights and hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign donations from Melgen and in return Menendez acted as the doctor's "personal senator", advocating on his behalf on various government matters. "Forget about what happened last week".

The video shows a man resembling the young leader of the Patel agitation and a woman in a compromising situation in a hotel room. Reacting to the video which has gone viral, BJP leader, Prakash Javadekar said, "This is violation of the right to privacy".
Headed into court Monday, Menendez told reporters that he "wished she hadn't left".
"What I saw in the courtroom was that he was not guilty of all counts; so was Dr. Melgen", Arroyo-Maultsby said on Thursday following her dismissal.
Although jurors are supposed to tune out of media coverage related to the Menendez trial, some jurors told Walls on Monday that they had heard Arroyo-Maultsby's remarks.
Arroyo-Maultsby was replaced by an alternate, and jurors resumed deliberations Monday for a few hours before reporting they were deadlocked. Walls said the comments have had no effect on the jury and told the attorneys, "She was on your side". Robert Menendez is deadlocked.

Menendez's trial is being closely watched for any impact on the balance of power in the US Senate, where Republicans have a slim 52-48 majority and Democrats want to hold onto the seat.
Should Walls formally declare a mistrial, former federal prosecutors predict that the Justice Department would ultimately refile the charges.
"If you believed in the case enough to bring it in the first place, typically you bring it again", said Randall Eliason, George Washington University law professor, in CNN's report.
