While faculty members picket at the Loyalist College entrance on Wallbridge-Loyalist Road in Belleville, the college's student government has been organizing daily get-togethers as a way to boost student morale.

Some 12,000 Ontario college professors, instructors, counsellors, and librarians haven't been at work since October 15.

The local student council office included research about past strikes as part of a strike update posted on its website - ncsac.ca - pointing out that the college system has never lost a semester due to a strike, despite past strikes that lasted 28 days in 1989, 24 days in 1984, and 18 days in 2006.

The Ontario Public Service Employees Union, which represents the striking faculty, says the dispute is the longest strike in the colleges' history.

This vote is scheduled to take place from Tuesday, Nov. 14 to Thursday, Nov. 16 and OPSEU is advising its members to vote no and reject the colleges' offer. This includes students at St. Clair College, Fanshawe College and Lambton College.

"We're a body of 1,000 students", Eckenswiler says. Organizers say they will wait till 12 pm for people to arrive then the students will all walk upstairs to line the halls by the administration office on the third floor in C wing.
