Fired Dallas County prosecutor apologizes over Uber flap

The former Dallas County assistant district attorney, who was sacked Monday after lashing out at an Uber driver, spoke to the media for the first time on Tuesday morning.

Platt told Dallas police that Warner appeared intoxicated when he picked her up at a Dallas bar Saturday night.

Platt also said Warner accused him of holding her hostage in his vehicle. Platt finally stopped his vehicle and ordered Warner out; when she refused, he called police.

Driver Shaun Platt had posted the incident on Facebook.

"Although criminal charges have not been filed, her behavior is contrary to this office's core principle of integrity, and it will not be tolerated", District Attorney Faith Johnson said in a statement. Johnson urged the public to "look beyond this incident" and understand that prosecutors work hard to seek justice on citizens' behalf.

The tensions triggered by North Korea's missile tests were not mentioned during the opening statements of Duterte and Moon. Still, the Chinese President said that he is looking forward to a responsible act of the South Korean government.

"Under the law, it's recklessly keeping me from where I was going, and you have done that, " she tells him. According to Platt, Warner asked Platt to change directions from the route called for on his Global Positioning System and he got lost. Frizell resigned as a judge this year to run for district attorney. "You're free to leave", Platt said.

"Then we'll wait for the cops, Jesus Christ, you're a [expletive] idiot in a stupid [expletive] hat", the passenger continues. "You're kidnapping me. You're committing a third- to first-degree felony". "It was not how I expected my night to go". It was insane... She can't treat people like that just because I'm not a doctor or a lawyer or someone she hangs around. "There's just a little bit more to it and I was wrong".

"I cringe whenever I hear or think about the things that I said that night", she said.

Platt told the Morning News that he reported the incident to Uber and the company assured him that his app wouldn't match up with her again. Thus, he called 911 and hit record, according to the Dallas newspaper.

"She kept saying she was an assistant DA, said who are they going to believe, you or me?' I said, 'You know what?"

Contacted by HuffPost on Monday, a spokesperson for Dallas police said, "We're still trying to gather information about this case". The Dallas County District Attorney's Office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

"There's two sides to every event", Schulte tweeted.

According to her LinkedIn page, Jody Warner worked as an assistant district attorney for the Dallas County District Attorney's Office for six years and 10 months, starting in the position in February 2011. Platt did not, however, intend for Warner to lose her job.

He reported the incident to Uber, anxious that his passenger would follow through with her threats, and said he only wanted an apology from Warner for "belittling" him and "way worse". "She actually hit me". But the law enforcement official simply asked him if he "was good" and when Platt reluctantly confirmed that he was, Warner left with the officer in his auto.
