After the problem was discovered by a number of device owners, dozens more reported experiencing it as well and posted pictures on Twitter to prove it. Users claim the so-called "crackling" or "buzzing" sounds from the device's earpiece speaker tend to occur at high or max volumes. Apple is rumored to be quietly replacing the affected devices.

The problem was brought to Apple's notice after many iPhone X users in colder climates reported their screens becoming unresponsive as soon as they ventured out in the cold with their phones. There have been several reports filed on social media, and on the top Apple related blogs and chat forums on the web. Apple fixed the iPhone 8 problem via a software update. Last week, Apple had also warned users that the iPhone X's OLED screen might fall prey to screen burn in, and advised users to keep the brightness as low as possible to avoid the problem.
