Hurricane Jose could pose threat to East Cost

As a tropical storm with winds round 70 miles per hour, Jose had meandered in the Atlantic for the past few days.

Hurricane Jose is expected to weaken to a tropical storm as the storm nears New England.

Hurricane season is roaring on as Tropical Storm Lee forms far from land, Jose threatens the U.S. East Coast and Norma moves closer to Mexico.

"These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions", center officials said.

The center recommends people along the East Coast pay attention to the forecast over the weekend, adding that, "Farther north. the chance of some direct impacts from Jose is increasing, but it is too soon to determine their exact magnitude and location".

Rip currents and surf of 4 to 7 feet are forecast for the coast of North Carolina today.

Rain will probably be our most noticeable impact, but even then we're not expecting a lot of rain. If the storm heads toward New England, Tropical-Storm-Force winds could be in the area by Tuesday. Unlike Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, which affected Florida and Texas, reports say that Jose may be headed towards the U.S. Northeast, dumping rain and wind on the region.
