Mayor de Blasio wins Democratic primary

13 September 2017

Albanese was trailing behind with 17.84 percent, or 25,634 votes. Unlike some other states, in NY only registered party members are allowed to vote in a party's primary.

According to de Blasio's voter record at the New York City Board of Elections, his address was changed on May 30, 2015, from his 11th Street Brooklyn home to Gracie Mansion in Manhattan because of a change filed with the U.S. Postal Service.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (dih BLAH'-zee-oh) says he wants to make the city more hospitable to people feeling squeezed out by the huge gap between rich and poor.

Among the City Council races to watch is the contest in central Queens between Francisco Moya, a state assemblyman, and Hiram Monserrate, a former councilman and state senator convicted in 2009 of assaulting his then-girlfriend, and in 2012 of committing felony fraud while on the Council.

Acting Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez, who stepped into the role when his predecessor took ill and later died, won the Democratic primary election for that job.

The mayor and his wife wife Chirlane McCray voted today at the polling station in Park Slope in Brooklyn.

Most party primaries in NY state are closed contests, meaning a voter must be a registered member of the party in order to cast a ballot.

"I'm not going to stop until we build that fairer city for every New Yorker", he said.

Malliotakis (R-East Shore/Brooklyn) still faces a tough race against de Blasio as the Republican nominee.

De Blasio is projected to beat Sal Albanese, his closest rival. Albanese, a self-described "underdog" has long acknowledged the difficulty of unseating an incumbent, but repeatedly said he remained in the race to give voters an alternative to de Blasio's "four years of broken promises".

Maryann Basil both voted and worked as a poll worker at the site.

Malliotakis has been critical of Mayor de Blasio's so-called sanctuary city policies.

Ontario Court Justice Bernd Zabel, who has spent 27 years on the bench, faced the possibility of a recommendation for removal. Members of vulnerable groups need have no fear about the treatment they would receive in Justice Zabel's court.

He faced off against Sal Albanese, Richard Bashner, Robert Gangi and Michael Tolkin, none of whom could match the incumbent's fundraising and organizational strength.
