Upcoming Solar Eclipse Could Impact Business Aircraft Operations

12 August 2017

10 days from now the Tri-State will experience the Great Solar Eclipse, but are you prepared?

The map shows the swath along the path of total eclipse, where the sun will be fully covered, in blue ranging from deep to light.

While Arizona is not along the path of totality for the 2017 event, it still lies within the area that will see a substantial partial eclipse.

In addition to its preparation event, the Fort Wayne Astronomical Society also will help people experience the solar eclipse by having members out from noon to 3 p.m. August 21 in the plaza outside the main library, a group news release said.

But the total eclipse, when the sun passes behind the moon, will be fleeting.

Aaron Carter Asks Chloë Grace Moretz on Dinner Date - Will She Accept?
Although Chloe Grace Moretz is expected to respond positively, the gesture from Aaron Carter is as friendly and good-natured as Mortez talks about a childhood crush.

It has been almost 100 years since a total eclipse has moved from coast to coast across the United States. The sun will look like a dark hole in the sky.

If it happens to be completely overcast in your location during the eclipse, the only way you're going to directly view it is if you go online and check out livestream of the event (like ours!).

But as science evolved, mankind debunked these superstitions and, in turn, demystified solar eclipses.

During a total eclipse, observers can see the solar corona, a superheated plasma 2 million degrees in temperature.

Fayetteville Public Library - The library is giving away the glasses while supplies last during an eclipse prep event on Sunday (Aug. 13) from 1:30-4 p.m. With your back to the sun, look at your hands' shadow on the ground. The sun's corona, or top layer, is only visible during a total solar eclipse.

Olympics could open North Korea -- Rex Tilley
On Tuesday, Trump promised to unleash "fire and fury" on North Korea if it was to launch an attack on the U.S. or its allies. Photo A-10 planes lined up for takeoff on Thursday from the United States Osan Air Base in Pyeongtaek, South Korea.

Think you can get by without those amusing looking eclipse glasses?

It's known in the trade as solar blindness or solar retinopathy - not total blindness, rather more like age-related macular degeneration, where you have trouble reading or recognizing faces, or lose those abilities altogether. The eclipse will still be visible outside of this pathway, as a partial eclipse.

That eclipse didn't do much other than distract from the deluge of political news, according to "American Eclipse", but there's good reason to believe that this one could be different.

"We have an opportunity to experience a spectacular natural phenomenon, and we can enjoy it with some simple protection".

The lenses of some obvious fakes allow the penetration of light from such relatively faint sources as fluorescent lamps, while the only thing one should see through authentic solar-safe filters when looking at objects fainter than the sun is pitch blackness. There are also tips on how to make an old-fashioned pinhole projector for viewing.

Mariners place James Paxton on 10-day DL
North Battleford's Andrew Albers is going to be in a pennant chase. "Hopefully, we'd have the lead, and we did have the lead". Tonight, I think the plan was lined up right. "We have to take advantage of when Mike gets on", Scioscia said.

Even if it doesn't inspire the next Einstein, this year's eclipse might give rise to a more passionate, more diverse generation of scientists, one that has a deeply personal connection to the motions of the universe. Hold the object between the sun and a white surface, like a piece of paper or the sidewalk, to see an image of the sun on the screen.
