Jewellery store targeted in Gleneagles hotel robbery

It is understood officers are in attendance at the Mappin and Webb store within the Perthshire hotel following the incident.

A number of expensive watches and diamonds are said to have been taken with a shop window being cleared out.

Mappin and Webb has two "boutique" stores at the resort, which it describes on its website as being home to "premium fine jewellery and is home to the world's most prestigious Swiss watch brands including Rolex".

Armed police have been spotted at the local railway station, with a helicopter also called into assist with the search.
