The plan will eliminate the individual mandate which forces people to buy health insurance or pay a penalty.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has unveiled the newest version of a bill to replace many provisions of the Affordable Care Act. "I think it strikes a balance". "Because Obamacare is a direct attack on the middle-class and Americans deserve better than the failing status quo".

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, followed by Majority Whip John Cornyn, leaves a Republican meeting on health care on Thursday.

GOP leaders hope to vote on the bill next week and can only afford two defections from the 52 Senate Republicans.

Democrats gathered on the Senate floor and defended Obama's 2010 overhaul.

UK offer to EU citizens "very fair", "very serious" - May
Austrian Chancellor Christian Kern said: "It is a first good step which we appreciate", adding that "many details are left open". The offer is contingent on the 1.2 million Britons living in European Union countries receiving reciprocal treatment.

"They can choose to keep standing by as their failing law continues to collapse and hurt more Americans, but I hope they will join us instead to bring more relief to families who have struggled under Obamacare for far too long", McConnell said during his Senate remarks.

"We live in the wealthiest country on earth".

He took to his Facebook page to address the Senate Republicans push for a health care bill which Obama once described as fundamentally inhumane.

The former president says amending the GOP-written bill "cannot change the fundamental meanness at the core of this legislation". Flake tweeted that he's reviewing the plan and his spokesman would not provide more information on his position. Dean Heller, R-Nevada, considered next year's most vulnerable Senate Republican up for re-election. Even if it passes, House conservatives will probably not go for the Senate version.

In his post on Thursday, Obama notably echoed Trump's alleged assertion behind closed doors that the healthcare legislation passed by House Republicans in May was "mean".

Asked if the insulation and aluminum tiles used were acceptable for such buildings, McCormack told reporters: "No they're not". McCormack said the recovery of all bodies may take until the end of the year and that they may not find all the victims.

Trump says at the start of a White House event on technology he is hopeful Congress will get something done on health care "with heart".

Ending Obama's expansion has caused major rifts among GOP senators. The program now gives states all the money needed to cover eligible recipients and procedures. But it would be more gradual than the House bill, which cuts off the extra funds for new Medicaid beneficiaries in 2020. That focuses financial assistance on people with lower incomes.

Republicans pointed to more affordable premiums for individuals seeking insurance if they do not have it through their employers. According to Planned Parenthood's 2014-15 annual report, the organization receives around $553.7 million annually in government health service grants and reimbursements, which totals to about 43 percent of its overall revenue.

The mandate exists to nudge healthier people to get coverage even if they don't have an immediate need for medical treatment; they pay into the system so it's there when they inevitably get sick or injured.

"We are extremely disappointed by the Senate bill released today", the medical school association wrote. "Most are the working poor, they work in hourly jobs that don't provide access to health care, so we're always concerned about that". Rand Paul criticizing the secretive process "with little time to fully evaluate the proposal". Billions of dollars to stabilize state health insurance markets would be funneled through the Children's Health Insurance Program, which already has strong limitations on abortion funding. Trump has been threatening to discontinue those payments, and some insurance companies have cited uncertainty over those funds as reasons why they are abandoning some markets and boosting premiums. That's not my opinion, but rather the conclusion of all objective analyses, from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, which found that 23 million Americans would lose insurance, to America's doctors, nurses, and hospitals on the front lines of our health care system.
