Sad day for Indian cricket: Lalchand Rajput on Kumble's resignation

22 June 2017

In a statement posted by Kumble on his Twitter handle, India's leading wicket-taker in Tests said that his partnership with Kohli was "untenable", and also cleared that he didn't know the Indian captain had "reservations" with his style of coaching until a day ago. All senior officials, including the acting secretary (Amitabh Choudhary) and the CEO (Rahul Johri), talked to Kumble and Kohli in great detail on the matter.

Wishing Kumble success in his future coaching endeavours, Shukla said the India team will get a new coach before the tour to Sri Lanka.

Kumble led India to the final of the Champions Trophy, where they were defeated by fierce rivals Pakistan at The Oval, and had been expected to continue as the squad headed out for a limited-overs tour of the Caribbean, which starts on June 23.

In a statement about the resignation, Amitabh Choudhary, Acting Secretary of the BCCI, said "We wish to place on record our honest appreciation for the enormous contribution by Anil Kumble to the team which enabled India to attain the No1 Test position. After that, BCCI will decide who should be the coach", he said.

Britain's Labour Party says PM May has no authority before Brexit talks
Hammond, who was nearly certainly due to be replaced at the Treasury, has been emboldened by the election result. Theresa May is on "probation" as British Prime Minister, a Tory MP has claimed.

Kumble was appointed the coach in June 2016 for a one-year term by the CAC and was instantly successful.

The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), comprising of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman, will now select India's next coach.

"They tried to resolve the issues but eventually no outcome could be found out and Kumble made a decision to move on", he added.

BCCI didn't extend Kumble's contract despite his outstanding record with the team, however, they offered him an extension till the West Indies tour, which was duly declined by Jumbo.

With Travis Kalanick gone, Uber could boost morale by giving employees liquidity
With Kalanick out of the way, Uber could go a long way toward boosting morale by giving employees more liquidity. One of his last acts on Uber's board may have been orchestrating Kalanick's ouster.

"I was surprised since I had always respected the role boundaries between the captain and coach", he added. "So who do you want as coach" and that's it.

Think of worldwide cricket coaches and be reminded (for those old enough) of the television interviewer Robin Day's famous put-down to John Nott, the former Conservative cabinet minister.

Asked about Virender Sehwag, who is considered a favourite, the official said, "Sehwag's application has no relation with BCCI to call for more applications".

McGregor and Mayweather epic encounter is a €600m done deal
It's a follow up to a jibe he threw at Mayweather during the week, when he referred to him as 'Floyd senior, his father. McGregor last fought in November 2016 at UFC 205 , where he won the lightweight world title against Eddie Alvarez .
