James Comey Calls Out White House Lies

17 June 2017

At a White House press conference, Mr Trump denied that he had asked Mr Comey to drop an investigation into Mike Flynn, the former national security adviser.

"I think, on balance, this is one of these extraordinary circumstances where the issues are so important, that what Comey did and his acknowledgment that he did it is understandable and in his mind necessary, and he did something that I think is courageous", said Jeffrey H. Smith, a former Central Intelligence Agency general counsel now in private practice at Arnold & Porter. He was "100 per cent" willing to testify to that effect under oath, he added.

Mr Comey, who was sacked by Mr Trump in May, delivered a scathing indictment of the president on Thursday at a congressional hearing.

Comey said he refused on all points, told senators of the detailed memos he had written after his conversations with Trump and said he hoped those conversations were taped because he is confident of their veracity.

What the 'Amazon effect' could do to prices at Whole Foods
Pacad Investment Ltd. purchased a new stake in Whole Foods Market during the fourth quarter valued at about $163,000. Interestingly, the acquisition of Whole Foods sends several signals to Amazon's Indian market as well.

Comey was unabashed about accusing Trump and his administration of telling "lies", and said he began the practice of immediately making notes after talking with the president because "I was honestly concerned that he might lie" about the conversations. The U.S. Constitution does not directly address whether the president can be criminally prosecuted, and the area is the subject of legal debate.

He also claimed that Mr Comey's comments to the Senate Intelligence Committee failed to prove any collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation. But that idea went by the wayside after Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein instead reached out to Mueller to run the politically sensitive Russia probe, which is examining ties between Russians and Trump campaign aides, the sources said.

But let's get back to the dominant story line of the day, of the past month, really: The disconcerting dust-up between Trump and Comey. Richman had confirmed on Thursday that he was the friend Comey testified who had discussed the memos with the media.

"Despite so many false statements and lies, total and complete vindication", Trump wrote, suggesting that Comey had committed perjury. There is now word the president may be questioned under oath.

US accuses Chinese company of transferring money from North Korea
Following the resolution, the European Union imposed new sanctions against North Korea. Defense Secretary James Mattis told Congress on Thursday.

Oh. So, according to the president - who seemed to be glancing down at some notes while speaking - we should believe the parts of Comey's testimony that Trump liked, but we should believe the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director perjured himself on the parts that Trump didn't like.

The leaders of the Senate judiciary's probe sent Richman the request Thursday and asked he provide it by Friday.

"Man up!", King said of Comey.

Meanwhile, legislators continued their push to access Comey's memos. "I took it as a very disturbing thing, very concerning".
