Tethered to a safety harness as legally required, Erendira Vasquez Wallenda said the wind above the falls was far more fierce than she had expected, prompting the pilot to nose the chopper a little higher.
The mom of three took off for the falls just after 8:30 a.m. and was soon putting on her aerial performance in a suspended hoop above the mist.
She'll perform tricks and dance moves, at points during the performance she will hang from her toes and her teeth.
The aerialist spent about eight minutes of the 10-minute stunt hovering over the falls.

The stunt was made possible with support from the city of Niagara Falls and Niagara County, which contributed $35,000 each.
"Our dentist is a very understanding person", her husband added.
"In five more years", he joked, "I'm going to hang by one tooth, 800 feet above the falls".
"You can't do what we do and be freaked out", she said.

Erendira is an aerialist who has always been experienced in stunts like these. Legislators and the Wallendas said the payoff would come later, with the spread of photos and video from the stunt.
The stunt set an iron-jaw hang Guinness World Record for height.
