Nigeria army says it killed Boko Haram leader, frees 9 kids

"Following credible and confirmed information about the convergence of some elements of suspected Boko Haram terrorists on Jarawa village, Kala Balge Local Government Area, Borno State, troops of 3 Battalion, 22 Brigade Nigerian Army of Operation LAFIYA DOLE, in conjunction with some Civilian JTF on June 11, 2017, carried out a successful clearance operation along that axis".

The corporal and four others, Sergeant Samuel Balanga, Private Chima Samuel, Corporal Aliu Audu and Trooper Sunday Ogwuche, were convicted by the court, which sat in Maiduguri, Borno State, on Friday for offences connected to the Boko Haram insurgency.

The spokesperson of the VGN in Borno State, Abbas Gava, told PREMIUM TIMES on phone that the gunmen invaded Yale village late Saturday night shooting sporadically and causing scared residents to flee into the bushes.
